The much anticipated LPNY convention in Albany was held on Saturday. Former Governor of Massachusetts William Weld cracked a nut that may have national implications. If Mr. Weld gets the Republican nod this endorsement may go far in replacing the Conservative Party as one of NY's kingmakers. The next few months will be interesting.
The implications of this decision will have positive results for this campaign. As part of a petition process with a little bite, gathering those signatures will now be easier. Most importantly, the petitions will be defended. Less time spent collecting petitions means more time to campaign. Letting the light of Liberty shine into the electorate might be easier. People hear a famous name and listen a little more.
Steve Greenfield failed in his bid to gain the LPNY endorsement. His fusion strategy to attack Senator Clinton will now turn into a fight between minor parties and whatever the Republicans do. Jeff Russell is the party's candidate and we will assist him however we can.
With the end of this history making convention will allow to focus on the events of the summer, policy papers and of course fundraising. We'll press the other campaigns to debate and hopefully get a little more media traction.
Somehow I managed to be placed on the state committee as an at-large representative. Actually managed to get a majority of the votes in this part of the day. As such, I'll have an inside track on party stuff and we'll convey any questions and concerns from any and all. We'll also be looking to organize county chapters in the district and beyond. Please let me know if you have an interest.
With all the excitement of the Rally and convention gone, we'll be able get back to content work on this site. The mundane task of 'reporting' now done. We taped quite a bit of stuff and might release some content in a couple different spots.
