The Great Debate

In the twelve years that I've been in business in Columbia County I've only been brought to court by a client once. We have however, had to take others to court for non-payment. That's why it was disappointing that Kirsten Gillibrand was more concerned about her meeting with Nancy Pelosi today then our debate last night. The rumor mill suggested that we were asking for five thousand dollars for her participation.

That's not how we do business here in the County. After the other candidates agreed to the debate before the deadline answer of May 22nd we offered anybody who would have liked to an opportunity to participate for free. In respect to the League of Women Voters, that provision should have been well known. A phone call could have cleared any misconception up. It's not my job to do Mr. Hyer's.

A bunch of 'minor leaguers' shouldn't expect a sitting Congressman to appear at their small debate in Hudson, NY. That much we knew and accepted. Just because the other 'lead' candidate gets hefty donations from 400 lawyers from Manhattan doesn't mean she's ready for the mound either.

Morris Guller has received more votes in the district then Ms. Gillibrand. That's a simple fact. Ed Pell has run for Kingston mayor. In many ways they are more practical and experienced candidates then myself. The 'Spirit of Democratic Debate' called for Ms. Gillibrand was done under the assumption that her money and insider status was sufficient for John Sweeney to agree to debate. Sometimes a big league pitcher has to take a minor league start in order to prepare for the big show. Maybe our 2.5% figure in the recent Zogby Poll will rise higher in the months to come. What's the threshold for a third party candidate to participate in the Big Show ?
