The Good Fight

While the Red & Blue chortle about other people's money, we've been forced to hit the street for 3500 signatures in order to be on the ballot this November. Despite the fact that almost half the registered voters choose not to vote, a percentage of that apathy is required by the powers to be because they fear any whacko might challenge them in the free market of ideas.

Further difficulties arise when partisans of power refuse their signature based on the perception of your threat. Thus the small percentage of willing signers dwindle to about 25%. Even then, a 'social conservative' will refuse democracy if they feel a position on abortion or gays is not to their liking. Occasionally a nugget of hope will pop up during the hottest days of summer.
When we meet a Free Stater or a fellow libertarian we can stop and visit a bit. Sharing the frustration of being part of that small minority that feels government is too large and our freedoms are at risk. For those whose life is based on the largesse of the state (hence their fellow taxpayers) we cannot hope to make gain. Some are just not willing to sacrifice the security that the state provides. The benefits are far greater amongst the complicit.
For the small minority in this country who feel that Liberty is not a bad word, we will provide some succor on November 7th. Our little campaign is fighting to stay afloat based on the fickle perception of the public.
