Welcome the rest of The World !

Our unique user average just crested an average of 329 a day. Even our local newspapers are starting to pay attention.

This week alone 55 different countries stopped by.
Who would have thought six months ago ?

Moving on MoveOn

jeff_eric.jpg

Jeff Russell, US Senate candidate in NY and Eric Sundwall 20th Congressional candidate, spoke at the August 30th Rally at the Capital. Later they strolled down to the BOE and checked to see who was reviewing the LPNY petitions. After lunch they ran into the Quakers.

Here's the video . . .

Kudos Ms. Benjamin

Liz Benjamin did a bang up job determining the mystery objectors today.

I copied her at 8:30 about our situation and she was done before the day's whistle.

Resistance is Futile ?

resist2.jpg

We'll have a preliminary result from BOE tommorrow.
Should a challenge be forthcoming, it will be easy enough to see which camp cares.

Constantly Kicked in the Teeth

teeth.jpg

After six weeks of begging fellow voters to acknowledge an independent candidate, then waiting for challenges for the next two weeks, it's not fun to get a letter saying some piece of paperwork needs to be filed by Aug. 25th.

Maury still cares . . .

Mr. Thompson of the Glens Falls PostStar interviewed us on Friday.
The article was in Sunday's paper. It is also available online.

Siena's Push Poll

ballot01.gif
Touting itself as the first public poll in the 20th Congressional District, no metric was provided for our campaign.

It's one thing when Rex Smith doesn't care, but it's completely another when an organization purporting to serve some public good gets involved.

The Exit Strategy

exit.jpg

The LP released an exit strategy last summer.

Despite numerous issues and problems, they were the first party to start to consider the real problems with occupations.

A six to 12 month strategy offered by a freshman Congress person would have little effect.

A Prescient Debate Dodge

debate_dude.jpg

We'll figure that this will be the strategy of the red and blue when it comes to debating.

The ten percent polling threshold maintained by the LWV or perhaps no office space will
keep the real anti-war candidate at bay. We'll certainly have position papers. There should be a money consideration. The incumbant ought to spend at least a dollar of his own money.

Rex's Dead Cat

dead_cat.jpg
Times Union Publisher Rex Smith pontificates candidate coverage;

" So let's say you woke up one morning and decided the patriotic thing to do was to run for public office -- to offer yourself to voters as a servant of their interests, determined to do something good for your community."

Dude . . it's the Debt.

A Harvard Professor ( not Don Silberger ) has some problems with American Debt.

If the US were a business it would be bankrupt.

Changes are Coming . . .

Our little family is off to camp for the next few days.
The nearly six week toll of petitioning, is a great way
to discourage competitors.

Those of us in a free market already, get it and adapt.

Watch for some changes on the blog and then the main site altogether.
Next week should herald the next phase of the little campaign that could . . .

Government makes fuel price higher !

Energy independence is often touted by enthusiastic reformers.

Sometimes it works the other way.

Backyard mechanics all over the country are responding by building 'greasecars'.
Innovation, conservation and adapatation will always preceed regulatory burden.

Out of the Void

EricSundwallv3.08.jpg

We have completed the petitioning (more or less) and expect to be on the ballot. Unfortunately, even after collecting the requisite signatures, we still may be subject to challenge by partisan agents. We'll know better this time next week.

Otherwise look for a new website update, real position papers, a professional commercial and real fund raising activity.
We expect to attend special functions, county fairs, and policy forums. Thanks to all the volunteer efforts !

Wanted: More Independents

This article is pretty good.

Pierce is a strong candidate without pre-applied media labels.

Bob Smithers in TX is starting to get some notice after some Delay.

Libertarian Eric Schansberg will join Republican Rep. Mike Sodrel and Democrat Baron Hill in a 9th District congressional debate set for Aug. 31 at Indiana University's public television station.

Some real political news from CT

Good news. A libertarian on the ballot.

Kudos, Mr. Maymin.

CLIFTON DEMANDS LWV INCLUDE ALL

In reponse to a certain TU blog post:

New Paltz, NY 8/15/06: “Are minor party candidates
being quietly excluded from the fall debates, by not
being asked to participate?” asks Libertarian
Candidate for Governor John Clifton. In response to
his (and other minor parties) not being officially
notified of the announced debate schedule, Clifton is
formally requesting inclusion in the fall candidate
debates sponsored by the League of Women Voters of New
York (LWVNY), in order to find out. Libertarian
candidate for Attorney General Chris Garvey has also
formally requested inclusion.

Polls & Ballot Access

A recent Harris Poll indicated that to 17% of Americans would vote for 'Other'.

Other news in from PA indicates a couple LP candidates who didn't make it on the ballot.

But, actual good news from NJ.
Looks like Phil Maymin will make it. Congrats Phil.

Will the news of Tom Delay create another opening for success ?
