August 8th - Meeting at the Ranch

August 1, 2006

Change of Location for August Meeting: Sundwall Ranch, Niverville

The August meeting of the Capital District Chapter of the Libertarian Party of New York will be on Tuesday August 8th at 7:00 PM at the Sundwall residence, 889 Main Street, Niverville.

This meeting may coincide with the first meeting of a new chapter located in Columbia County, which may also incorporate Greene and/or additional counties under its umbrella.

If there is sufficient attendance from the proposed geographic area, a selection of interim officers will be made and a meeting set up to draft proposed bylaws, and set a date for a chapter convention to adopt bylaws, select officers and request official recognition from the state party.

Petitioning to get candidates on the ballot began on July 11th and is not preceding a pace that insures the required number of signatures. Help is needed if we are to be successful in offering a libertarian alternative to what will most like be Governor Spitzer and Senator Hillary Clinton.

“Don’t blame me, I voted Libertarian” bumper stickers could be meaningless, because without ballot status, nobody will be able to vote for Libertarians in New York in 2006. Call me for how to obtain copies of the petition.

Eric Sundwall, US Congressional candidate for New York’s 20th District extends an invitation to all to petition that afternoon before the meeting. Call Eric at 754-1023

Directions to the Sundwall Ranch: From the north (I-90 Exit 12) go south on Route 9 a little more than 2 miles to a traffic light (Main Street (sign toward Town Hall). Take a left at this light and proceed 2 to 3 miles over a little bridge into the ‘hamlet’ of Niverville bearing right at the fork in the road near the post office. About a ¼ mile on the right will be the Fire Dept. #889 is directly across the street from the firehouse.

From the south at the traffic circle of Route 9 and 9H, take State Farm Road north about 2 ½ miles to Main Street. Take a right on Main Street and proceed ½ mile over a little bridge into the ‘hamlet’ of Niverville bearing right at the fork in the road near the post office. About a ¼ mile on the right will be the Fire Dept. #889 is directly across the street from the firehouse.

Feel free to contact me at (WMPMCM@msn.com) or (518) 475-1618 to share your ideas and interests. Thank you very much.
