Many give the Libertarian Party a hard time for being losers. Aside from the fact that we stand forever unable to win in such a system, our candidates are pretty decent people. When I look at the GOP candidate for AG and our own Chris Garvey, I'm amazed more people wouldn't want to vote for him. What's up with these candidates from Westchester and their out of control hubby's ?

What if we were suddenly back on the ballot ? Did anyone notice that we are not ?
We're looking to get into Federal Court this week.We think that we had enough signatures if not for the bogus town designation that often confuses voters, volunteers and even practiced petitioners. After all it's all about the intent of thousands of signatories and voters, not a hand full of hacks willing to let a paid gun go in manipulate the system to the incumbents advantage.

Sometimes trolling 'listserves' has more value than the usual time spent responding to all the experts out there. Occasionally you come across something interesting, unlike an Alan Chartock opinion piece. Mr. Chartock does entertain us on some level by letting Dr. Herb London do a weekly thing on his WAMC radio. Occasionally I respond to what I consider his buffonary.

One of the better features of common law was the capacity to duel an advisary of common ilk when satisfaction was required for one's honor.

Today we have little capacity to protect honor when anonymous or known flaming ensues. While some feel compelled to respond and continue the silliness, others simply walk away shaking here heads knowing there is little they can do.

A couple weeks ago I traipsed int the NYS BOE and had to undergo the final insult to the state's determination of how I pursued democracy. Warren Redlich suggested I blog about it. I hadn't the heart for it then or perhaps have just had the bile receed in my throat now.

Nothing of note in regards to courts and lawyers.

We did get some press from some young journalists at Metroland and the Register Star.

We have a chance to fight a court battle regarding one of the reasons our petition was challenged. This could make future efforts throughout the state easier. Obviously we're tapped out and need help. Please follow the hop and donate today ! Time is of the essence though. We'll have better details Monday afternoon.

Jeff Russell is the LPNY's U.S. Senate candidate for 2006. He's in the toughest possible position this year. He's running against Mrs. Clinton who has gobs of money and every expectation for another grab at the White House.

During the campaign I had the pleasure of working with my old buddy Warren Redlich. He took a real hit for me. He didn't have to go to the mat for me against my three objectors who happened to employ the same lawyer as Congressman Sweeney. But he did. I'm immensely grateful and support Warren's effort whole heartedly.

Libertarian Candidate for Governor of New York, John Clifton is expected at tomorrow’s meeting of the Capital District Libertarian Party at the Branch Restaurant, 40 Maiden Lane, Albany at 6:00 P.M.

I've worked with John on numerous things the last year and look forward to his presence with our hardy group of Liberty minded folk !

Phil Maymin, Libertarian in CT's 4th CD, just sent me an urgent message.

In order for him to participate in the debates, he needs hundreds of donors. He's established a foundation for all the other criteria to participate. This doesn't require anymore than a buck. But he needs it TODAY !

The machine has shut us down. Look for no reasonable choice again this cycle. Write us in, if you want, we're done though. No more paperwork ! We'll keep the blog up for the duration.

There is a chance in court next week. But remember who's in charge.

Despite the recent tortures of lawyers and bureaucrats we were happy to see an endorsment of sorts.

A diarist at Democracy in Albany named Alfred Newman posted on August 28th. We missed it due to exhaustion from petitioning and the subsequent challenges. We do appreciate it though and hope we can be there when you pull the lever.

Libertarians were challenged by the Conservatives this year.

Considering they have only one candidate this year, maybe they long for the days when they actually stood for something and ran more of their own.
