During the campaign I had the pleasure of working with my old buddy Warren Redlich. He took a real hit for me. He didn't have to go to the mat for me against my three objectors who happened to employ the same lawyer as Congressman Sweeney. But he did. I'm immensely grateful and support Warren's effort whole heartedly.
Having gained some decent traffic at this blog, I thought I might direct some 'folks' his way. Warren's got a great thing going with his 'Stop Wasting Money' effort. Unfortunately sometimes this message doesn't resonate because so many depend on this wasted money. And they keep voting. Warren's also got to deal with a gerrymandered district favoring the incumbant.
As a third party candidate my hopes and attempt was only to be marginal at best. Any and all recognition for the LP is great. An over hyped race promised and produced more than any previous LP effort in the district. When was the last ? Warren gets a nice default chunk of the electorate based on his pachyderm allies, but how to garnish the necessary partisan turncoats ? Or for that matter the growing and leary independent sorts ?
Why doesn't anyone take the opportunity to engage with a viable candidate ? Are we relegated to waiting for the MySpacer's to have kids and need better jobs ? Perhaps blogging candidates are before their time. It seems like the bread and circuses that the boomers will expect will overshadow these advanced communications and connections. Will it take a 40 trillion dollar debt to get the voter's unbridled attention when 80% of their income is foisted over to the next millilenia of unfunded obligations and promises ?
Only Lisa M at Turn20Blue would ever engage with our campaign. Andrew White just ignored us until the end. The other snarky characters of the right would only jeer and cast aspersions. Is there some pariah affect that accompanies a candidate who willingly engages with potential constituents ? My guess is that not that many people care or pay attention until it's too late. Engagement requires encouragement, courage, conviction and sometimes is just rude and nasty. But it still seems like we're waiting for some absurd intervention of sorts . . .
