Sundwall Going To D.C. & Disneyland

This isn't some vain glorious delusion based on the effects of the two party tyranny, simply an acknowledgement of my duties as a Dad and party member. disney.jpg This weekend I'm in fact going to Washington D.C. for the Libertarian National Committee. I'm the alternate rep for Region 7. I managed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time at the National Convention in Portland and the New York delegation hijacked me for another committee assignment. As I protested asking about the other state delegations, they exercised their one effort all year as a majority. I'm happy to go however . . .

I took heart in our effort all over the country. There's no one deciding factor in our losses in key races. We saw candidates like Maymin and Schansberg shine in debates with Liberty ideas and sensible presentation. We had hope and designs in Texas and Vermont. We had a real possibility in an Indiana state house. Our victories are not small because were not sincere or incorrect. We simply exist in what is otherwise a vacuum of competition. Radical and moderate libertarians should take heart and never concede. Get more people, get more money. Both major parties will continue to waste and deceive. The horizon has a third party on it . . . Keep the faith.

Last year at this time we were actually moving out of our office in Valatie. After years of delay attributed to various controling boards, we were free to take our losses and consider the future. At that time I had no clue about running for Congress. I was happy to not be pushing a rock constantly up a hill. Dismantling furnace systems and company signs was a relief. Of course it didn't take long before the idea/opportunity came up in Januaury. I'll save the rest for the book and documentary . . .

The bottom line is that I would thank all the people who believed in a quixotic journey against all odds. Most of all my wife and family. They held on and made sacrifices on many levels. THey too thought it crazy at first, but possibly believed something was possible if we were just on the ballot. Various members of the LPNY also contributed and helped. I'd like to thank Donald Silberger, Jeffery Russell and Richard Cooper. I was fortunate to carry petitons for Liberty for Don & Jeff and they me. I'll always be grateful.

What now ? Well, the Sundwall's are all going out to California for Christmas. This is a first time event as multiple families. My Grandmother is having a special birthday and her whole brood will be there. It will be weird going someplace for Christmas not cold.

I'm firing up the Chief Architect, continuing the design of the addition I hope to build our growing little family.I'll even a get a garage out of the whole process. I'll stay an avid blogger and act as a gadfly for the Congresswoman, but I'll keep it clear and simple. Real libertarian. My committee assignments will be an open invitation to ideas and solutions for our effort. Not sure I have the stomach for anything else again, but you never know. Now that the dude in Clifton Park is gone, maybe I could get on the ballot next time. Anybody declared against Chuck yet ? Thanks again to each and everyone of you who helped and supported us in anyway. Thanks to Warren Redlich for reminding me to do so.
