The Sunday Morning Shows

As Chris Matthews spends the next two years blathering about Hillary and McCain, libertarians will spend their time where they can on the tube, mainly public access. Gary Popkin has been instrumental in this process and produces such a show for Brooklyn CATV. CATV.jpg Here's the show I did with Phil Maymin on December 21, 2006. It was my first hosting job and I hope to parlay that into a show here in the good old Capital District. I just got a chance to view it as I watch the other Sunday shows. I do miss the once a week recap that Brinkley did so brilliantly. The 24/7 news/analysis cycle has diluted the affect of these programs. Maybe we can start things the other way with our quirky little party. Here's Phil show with Daniel Goldstein about the Atlantic Yards Project and Eminent Domain.

Worthless ? Vexing perhaps . . .

Mr. Bartlett's recent slam might have had a better title/purpose: 'Why is the LP is so Vexing ?' w_o_r_t_h_l_e_s_s.jpg

Obviously this is a sour grapes analysis designed to stem any perceived hemorrhage
Mr. Barr's recent appointment to the LNC may have induced. If the party ceased to exist merely because
it was inconvenient to electoral success of others, what incentive would activists have to act in those arenas ?

Third parties have always driven issues the either/or system neglects. While it is true that Presidential Electoral mechanisms push other aspects of the polity (Princeton Prof. Sean Wilentz's 'The Rise of American Democracy' illustrates this rather well) lacking electoral success does not negate this function or relegate it to a debate appurtenance.

Phil Maymin on Hardfire

I'm happy to announce the appearance of Phil Maymin on Hardfire. On December 21st I'll be heading to the Brooklyn studios to host Phil on Gary Popkin's show. We'll discuss various aspects of his campaign and maybe swap some war stories.p1-maymin-2_8-17.jpg Phil gained some national attention with his participation in the Shays/Farrell debates in Connecticut's 4th District and an appearance on MSNBC's show "Tucker".

Phil will also be hosting the show just after ours. I'm hoping to parley my new found hosting skills to a locally hosted program (Capital District). I gather Phil has a guest or two that will discuss the Atlantic Yards project. I'm hoping Phil comes up with a good show demonstrating why I shouldn't be providing a sports team with my tax dollars. Gary's really good at getting these shows up on Google Video before they hit the airwaves. Look for the link around X-mas.
