I gotta chuckle a little when I read that both the Sweeney campaign and the Gillibrand campaign are in debt. I'd weigh in at the CapCon, but somehow it might seem desperate or silly as the partisans still snip and snipe at each other.
Katy didn't send our last filing in yesterday and I'm sure some bureaucrat will pick up on this and threaten to fine and castigate us somehow. Last time she yelled at them about not even being on the ballot and they meekly accepted our FEDX delivery the next day. I had just popped in regular snail mail and they had a control freak fit over my lack of regard for the institute. Go figure. Good thing I didn't get elected, I might have forgotten my meeting with Nancy when she beckoned. Considering her attitude about ballot access, it would have been a pleasure to ignore her.
From what I can glean from the whole process we are not technically in debt, we just spent a dollar more than we had. We still have Katy's co-workers five dollar bill in the FEC notebook that we used. We might not have declared that, but it should help us survive an audit. The sad part is that we spent almost three times our personal money then the rich lawyer and old John boy didn't put a dime of his sweat and blood into it. Good riddance.
The other unfortunate outcome is that like the campaigns, so goes the country. Spend other people's money and play the power game to survive and get nothing done. Once again I'll set aside more commentary as time permits over at www.ericsundwall.com, the renewal comes up for this site soon and I'm pretty certain it's not worth the fifteen bucks to lament over the sad state of American Democracy for another year with this URL.
