Dear National Republican Senatorial Committee . . .

Dear Mr. John Ensign,

Your outfit recently sent me a message soliciting twenty dollars and eight cents in order to help the GOP get back the Senate. Aside from the usual banal claims of security and traditional values, your appeal lacks any pizazz or genuine appeal to someone like myself who is an enrolled Libertarian and never a Republican. Unfortunately I seem to be on the list and my only succor is the ability to respond to what I guage to be about 500 visitors a day to this site and another.Collage_Rome.jpg

As far as New York is concerned, you haven't been able to put a winning candidate in office since Al Damato. Needless to say, I preferred even Pat Moynihan to him. It's hard for me to believe that unless Hillary wins the White House there will be no change in colors for beleaguered New Yorkers whose embarrassment is never assuaged by the latest failure of the GOP. I proudly carried almost a thousand signatures last summer for Jeffrey Russell in his attempt to unseat the former first Lady from the Senate. I'm not about to shift seats to a bigger doomed vessel in New York.

The path being set by Hillary Clinton and her liberal Democrat friends in the US Senate threatens our national security, our economic progress, our individual freedoms, even our personal safety.

Unfortunately the Senator from New York has followed the agenda of the Patriot Act, a fraudulent occupation of Iraq, a socialized prescription drug bill and numerous other debt building and security decreasing measures that have been lead by your President and allies in the Congress. As painful as it is to see the level of sophistication applied to our very lives and well being, it's fairly easy to respond in kind to this vapid message.

Instead of sending you twenty dollars and eight cents as you suggest, I may very well lower myself to buy Senator Schumer's recent lame vision of the country. Perhaps a detailed reading, review and response would do me well on the way to deconstructing the nonsense that is in Washington's collective head and bolster my own threats to run against the man who has never held a real job all his life. At least my own paltry effort may fail ingloriously on the torture rack that is American Democracy, but it will not suffer from the ghastly complacence that my fellow citizens must feel when they decide whether or not to vote for the caricature that the GOP foists against old Chuck.

We recently received a fund raiser from Ron Paul too. As heartening as it is to see the Congressman from Texas reach all the way upstate, it was somewhat disappointing. While not necessarily unexpected, I'll de-construct that one too with the same liberty-critical eye.
