Team Fruity: 1st Edition

It's seems like lately any campaign mailing has been child's play in terms of refuting the tripe that is necessary to solicit money from loyal party-ists. So when I saw Team Rudy pop-up on the mail run I figured another post or entry would be easily crafted in the snarky way of the libertarian. After all this is the 'conservative' whose questionable family values and stances must be the bane of the middle America Christian right. SuperRudy.jpgIt's the guy whose crack downs in New York often resembled the brown shirts. The guy whose staff lost the one hundred and forty page top secret campaign plan. The videos of him getting kissed by Trump while in drag and numerous other gaffes that are the fodder of the blogging literati. While its doubtful I'll tuck my 'Team Rudy' card into my wallet next to my national Libertarian card, I gotta think that this plea will be effective to those whom it is targeted.

He starts by talking about solving problems through strength, tosses in some platitudes about courage and a passionate vision of America. He than cuts to the chase about a record in Gotham that reduced welfare, crime and deficits. If he didn't start into the war on drugs and the deviancy factor he might even be persuasive to the whole reform movement amongst libertarians.

And while we pray for a successful outcome in Afghanistan and Iraq, our ultimate victory will not just be a military victory.

This is certainly code to all the culture warriors out there marching like Christian soldiers. Whatever tripe he spouts about 'broken windows' and sex shops, no amount of praying will solve a problem which has very little to do with the emotionalism of 9/11. Mounting 'wars' against tactics and after effects of bad policies will not enhance our safety or well being. Despite spending more in 'defense' than the closest twenty five countries the reason we are threatened by acts of terrorism like New York saw is our imperial nature, not a rejection of pure or core Republican values. So once again there is fodder for the anti-message.
