I was one of the earliest and most vocal and most optimistic supporters of Ron Paul for President.
I put my reputation and my family finances on the line for the campaign and put aside several important projects because I thought the campaign was a once in a lifetime chance to fight the corporate state.
As attorney for the New York campaign, I worked hard to get Ron on the ballot and in the end, NY turned out to be one of Ron's best states even though his campaign staff inexplicably chose not to spend any real money here or hire a single staff person.
With that campaign over, the very best thing you can do in the next month is to support Libertarian candidate for Congress (NY 20th), Eric Sundwall. He is running in a high profile race to fill the seat left vacant by Kirsten Gillibrand who got appointed to Hillary's seat.
The election is on March 31st.
Eric is already beginning to get major media attention and will be in at least some debates. The major parties have targeted this race for heavy spending since it will be a test of where the nation stands politically before next year's congressional races. We must do the same. The whole libertarian movement must coalesce behind Eric for the next several weeks so he can make a huge statement on our behalf that the nation is sick of the status quo and wants real change.
What can you do?
*Send Eric five or fifty dollars today. He must spend extra funds just to get on the ballot due to NY's insane election laws.
*If you are within driving distance, plan to come in to do some volunteer work, particularly close to the election.
*If you are too far away, we will try to set up phone banks so you can make calls in your spare time.
*Get on the blogs and websites and talk up the campaign.
*Urge any organization you are involved with to get behind Eric in whatever way is appropriate for that group.
*Spread the word far and wide.
As you know, the nation is in very serious trouble. Utter economic collapse with all that implies, is not impossible. It will be a lot easier to clean up the mess now than later when we may not be able to put the pieces back together again.

i very much agree with you jim. the hot spot for grassroots political activity has to be made right here in new york, right now, while a U.S. house seat is vacant and special election conditions may be used in our favor. this will not be a "massive voter turnout" election. the rally cries must be heard loud in the NY-20th and they must be heard now!
