I gotta chuckle a little when I read that both the Sweeney campaign and the Gillibrand campaign are in debt. I'd weigh in at the CapCon, but somehow it might seem desperate or silly as the partisans still snip and snipe at each other. Katy didn't send our last filing in yesterday and I'm sure some bureaucrat will pick up on this and threaten to fine and castigate us somehow. Last time she yelled at them about not even being on the ballot and they meekly accepted our FEDX delivery the next day. I had just popped in regular snail mail and they had a control freak fit over my lack of regard for the institute. Go figure. Good thing I didn't get elected, I might have forgotten my meeting with Nancy when she beckoned. Considering her attitude about ballot access, it would have been a pleasure to ignore her.

If not for three 'random' people represented by the top election law lawyer in the GOP, we would not have had to waltz into Federal Court and ask why over 1300 people were completely disenfranchised from Democracy in NY's 20th Congressional District. You have to be nice in court. An empty, large intriquely wood paneled room with classic pewter ordornments, black marble compliments, sleek video screens and microphones. Everybody jumps up like a sargent in a room full of officers when the man in black enters. In the end the judge seemed very sympathetic and hoped we had luck on up the line. Walk the line.

What if we were suddenly back on the ballot ? Did anyone notice that we are not ?
We're looking to get into Federal Court this week.We think that we had enough signatures if not for the bogus town designation that often confuses voters, volunteers and even practiced petitioners. After all it's all about the intent of thousands of signatories and voters, not a hand full of hacks willing to let a paid gun go in manipulate the system to the incumbents advantage.

We have a chance to fight a court battle regarding one of the reasons our petition was challenged. This could make future efforts throughout the state easier. Obviously we're tapped out and need help. Please follow the hop and donate today ! Time is of the essence though. We'll have better details Monday afternoon.

Libertarians were challenged by the Conservatives this year.

Considering they have only one candidate this year, maybe they long for the days when they actually stood for something and ran more of their own.

Warren Redlich, the GOP's Congressional candidate in NY's 21st District, will represent Eric Sundwall as he is challenged. Here's Warren's letter to the BOE filed late Friday afternoon.

Congressional Candidates Eric Sundwall (Libertarian -20th district of NY) and Warren Redlich (Republican - 21st district ofNY) announced today that they would work together to keep Sundwall on the ballot in his race.

Liz Benjamin did a bang up job determining the mystery objectors today.

I copied her at 8:30 about our situation and she was done before the day's whistle.

We'll have a preliminary result from BOE tommorrow.
Should a challenge be forthcoming, it will be easy enough to see which camp cares.

After six weeks of begging fellow voters to acknowledge an independent candidate, then waiting for challenges for the next two weeks, it's not fun to get a letter saying some piece of paperwork needs to be filed by Aug. 25th.

Our little family is off to camp for the next few days.
The nearly six week toll of petitioning, is a great way
to discourage competitors.

Those of us in a free market already, get it and adapt.

Watch for some changes on the blog and then the main site altogether.
Next week should herald the next phase of the little campaign that could . . .

We have completed the petitioning (more or less) and expect to be on the ballot. Unfortunately, even after collecting the requisite signatures, we still may be subject to challenge by partisan agents. We'll know better this time next week.

Otherwise look for a new website update, real position papers, a professional commercial and real fund raising activity.
We expect to attend special functions, county fairs, and policy forums. Thanks to all the volunteer efforts !

The much anticipated LPNY convention in Albany was held on Saturday. Former Governor of Massachusetts William Weld cracked a nut that may have national implications. If Mr. Weld gets the Republican nod this endorsement may go far in replacing the Conservative Party as one of NY's kingmakers. The next few months will be interesting.
