One of the results of the 2006 LP convention was a drastic reduction of numerous platform planks.
While the Liberty Reform Caucas is reveling in the gutting of the platform, those being accused of being anarchists or purists are a little baffled that such action was even taken.

As a candidate and LP member I've never been accused of invoking the pledge or adhering to some unreasonable platform position. Many claim that candidates are unneccessarily assailed with the platform and a last minute accusation or effort by the mains will kill a campaign.
If a candidate can't hold main parties accountable for their destructive policies of the moment over the vague accusations of the party's platform, they probably aren't competitive or have a chance to begin with.
Most voters don't care. Voting is an errand that day in November which half of us don't bother with anyway.
I got to meet people like Barry Hess this weekend who feel that compromise is not necessary. Principle is important.
Standing out from the red & blue should be a source of pride and purpose. Historic inevitability determines the outcome more often than not. When people choose in the booth, they want an indentifiable possibility of winning.
A strong campaign or candidate should be able to overcome any thing like a pledge or platform. Strategy and candidates should be the goal of the LP. Haraunging about the iniation of force or drugs seems esoteric and non-productive.
